Primitive Arts and Stone Age Festival

We recently went on a field trip to a Primitive Arts and Stone Age Festival to learn more about the Third Great Lesson. The main highlight of it all was learning to throw the atlatl; we took turns hunting down a Wooly Mammoth. Having recently visited the skeleton of a real Mammoth, we determined we were probably hunting a baby one. So ultimately we were glad it was made out of cardboard.

All in all we met a lot of good, passionate folk and asked a ton of questions about primitive weaponry. We took home some sharp rocks of our own the kids happily tried to turn into arrowheads. We learned about geology, primitive man and fundamental needs. We asked about starting fires, and cooking foraged foods and listened to handmade drums.

The festival is small and it was a little chilly, but it was greatly enjoyed by my kids. Where else can you hunt down a mammoth?
