Homeschool Week Review: Vol 9

Sorry this week in review is belated. I have been writing, editing and trying to figure out a better way to format my posts. They’re just too long and take forever to write. I wanted to summarize the week but still provide detail on our activities, so I’ve decided to post a week in review (Friday) with an overview of how the week went — but with just a snapshot of each area in Montessori: Practical Life, Language, Sensorial, Math, Science and Geography (Cultural) — plus Arts and Great Lessons. Then throughout the week I will write about the activities / materials / presentations per area in depth. I don’t know if that will be the best way, but I’m going to give it a try. Going for a more organized, focused approach. Not always my forte.

We’re officially back!

My goodness, we are back and my children wanted to work every day until bedtime this week.

We begin our day about 9am and end our first three hour work cycle by lunch. After lunch we pick up with miscellany. However, I embraced the crazy, and I let them school until 6ish in the evening, and by Thursday evening violin, I was super burned out.  Mama can only handle so many wonderful questions before my brain tries to collapse. Friday I cut them off at 3, and when Mike asked if we were schooling on Saturday I had to say no. I am in love with their enthusiasm, but what did I get myself into with these kids y’all?

Josie started off the week with a brutal cold. She is a heart kid with immune system quirks; she unfortunately convalesced in bed the first few days. I postponed a lot of the group lessons I’d planned until she rejoined us, so my schedule got somewhat off track. But it’s ok — we’re homeschoolers after all.

Here’s our back to school photo with everyone. You can see the other one we took on day one here in our post about uniforms

Work planners are going well. Hopefully we continue to have success with them all year. We made acrostic poems for the covers.

Hopefully this new way of posting makes sense and is a lot more organized. Worth a try. Thank you to MaryAnne for jogging my brain. Look for more details from this past week in the upcoming week. For now, that’s a look at our first week back for the 2018-19 school year.
