Homeschool Week in Review: Ancient Olympics

I’m going to try my hardest to bring back the weekly in-review posts. I love looking over everything we accomplished in a week, and it was always my original intent to log our homeschooling here virtually. We just turned in our evaluation forms for the 2020-21 school year, so we’re officially looking ahead to 2021-22. The last school year was a difficult one — we did a lot less prepared environment and a lot more group work around the table. And that’s ok. Seasons of life. Do whatever fits your family and be flexible!

I’m determined to make up some ground this school year. I love homeschooling, and having the freedom to cover what we want, when we want, and how we want adds so much joy to our daily rhythm.

I haven’t planned out too far ahead yet, but we’re excited about the upcoming Olympics right now; we’ve been following the qualifying trials and learning about USA athletes — especially of course, the impossibly talented, Simone Biles.

This week we did some work on the ancient Olympics. I used downloads from Teachers Pay Teachers: Olympics Research unit BUNDLE with PowerPoint, 2021 Summer Olympics: Tokyo, Japan Research Unit with PowerPoint and 2021 Summer Olympics Tokyo.
I also prepped some geometry materials and taught William scissor skills. We played card games, practiced drawing skills, re-took an Outschool class on Greek gods and astronomy, and we went to the beach too!

Always busy here.
