Little Bunny Peek-a-boo Review

Boo! Getting close to Halloween. Did I spook you? Probably not. How about a treat then? Timberdoodle asked us to review Bunny Peek-a-Boo, a clever hide and seek activity, in exchange for this review. Spoiler: we loved it!

What is it? A fun spatial orientation game for little ones.

Pieces consist of just a couple simple wooden objects in bright colors with an adorable wooden bunny alongside a deck of challenge cards. All of the materials are well made and sturdy.

Game play (ages 2 and up)

My big kids actually got to this game before I did. It arrived in the mail when I was 729393 months pregnant, so I had little willpower to prevent them from playing with it prior to review. Thankfully it was only mildly disheveled and they put everything needed for gameplay back in the box. (A small miracle that speaks to the simplicity of the activity)

All that was required from me was organizing the cards back to level groups. So that’s what we did. Two-year-old Will and I did some color-sorting.

Double-sided cards progress from easy challenges (in green) to most challenging (purple) in difficulty. There are 30 cards for a total of 60 challenges.

Yes even my 12-year-old joined in. Josie has trouble with visual-spatial activities due to a neurologically-based visual processing anomaly, so I was interested to see how she’d do. She had some minor difficulties which was fascinating to see manifested in a physical way. Some challenge components came easily to her (fitting all the objects together) and some were harder (anything on a diagonal).

William (again he’s age 2) caught on super quickly which surprised me. He got through the first 6 challenge cards in green with no problem. Yet as they increased in difficulty he lost interest and wanted to play with all of the pieces. I say play but really just arranging the pieces is great skill-building work on its own.

I can’t wait to revisit this game again and again to watch him progress. Bunny Peek-a-Boo makes an excellent sensorial shelf work! I’ll likely rotate 3 cards at a time to keep the activity fresh.

I completely recommend this for young kids (2-6) and for any kid who has visual processing issues and needs a 3-d challenge.
