Beach Memorial (off topic)

On Holy Thursday we set off to the beach.

What better way to have your feet washed than by the waves crashing onto the shore. We went to remember baby Benedict on his 4th birthday. My April Fool’s Day baby. At 17 weeks, he was just a bit smaller than the length of my hand; he continues to live on in our hearts.

I brought a rose from the backyard to let go into the water. I said, as we got there, I hoped to find an intact sand dollar to bring back to remember the day. We walked a couple miles before we found a good spot to write Benedict’s name in the sand. It was so windy it almost instantly disappeared, but I got a few pictures.

We tossed the rose into the water. It kept coming back ashore until one toss it didn’t and floated over the waves farther out of sight. We turned back and just a few steps into the return trip I spotted a whole, tiny sand dollar. The rose drifted along shore with us for about 15 mins as we walked until we lost sight of it. We saw a dolphin too and left at sunset. Got some great pics of the kids. They’re growing up too fast. Especially Rosalind.

Beach memorial 2021: all in all a good and cathartic day.
